Hello!I was wondering how i am supposed to multiply fractions and mixed fractions. Thank you for your kind attention!

myininaya (myininaya):

Hey! Welcome to OpenStudy! I will make the mixed fractions into improper fractions first Then just multiply straight across on top And Multiply straight across on bottom... Then reduce... But you can reduce before multiplying if you like (this helps when you have big numbers)

Can you explain a little futher?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To make a mix fraction for example 3 1/2 you multiply the denominator (2) by the whole number (3) then you add the numerator (1). This would give you 7. You keep the old denominator. So it would be 7/2.

To make a mixed fraction into an improper fraction*

To multiply fraction.. lets say 1/2 and 3/4 you just multiply the numerators (1 and 3) and the denominators (2 and 4)
