OpenStudy (osuxbucks15):

The area of a regular octagon is 35 cm2. What is the area of a regular octagon with sides six times as long? 1,260 cm2 900 cm2 210 cm2 280 cm2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1260 cm^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But change teh equation to 35 times 9^2 which equals 1260

"The relationshiop between areas and side lengths of similar shapes is a squared relationship. This means that if you double the lengths of a shape, the area quadruples. If you triple, the area is multiplied by 9, and so on." So take the number you are multiplying teh sides by, then square that nubmer and multiply it by the original area to get the new area after the length increases of teh sides.
