HELP PLEASE :) in a charity triathlon, James ran half the distance and swam a quarter of the distance. when he took a quick break to get a drink, he was just starting to bike the remaining 15miles. what was the total distance of the race?
if he ran 1/2 and swam 1/4 then he has 1/4 to complete on the bike... so 1/4 = 15 miles find 4 x 1/4 for the full distance of the race..
do i multiply 4 times 1/4
Yes ^
got 1
Ok Lets try this again, 1/4 of the race is 15 miles. cambell had it wrong, multiply 15 times 4 to get the answer
got ty

In an internet cafe, the boss is having new counters custom-made. he wants to put 3 PCs on each counter with 3 feet between the PCs and 2 feet on each end. The PCs measure 18 inches wide and 24 inches high. What length of counters should the internet cafe have made?
Ok the the distance between each pc should be 3 feet, and there are 3 pcs, so... 9ft, and he wants 2 feet on each end so 4ft, and each computer is 18 inches wide and there are 3 computers (18*3)= 54 inches which converts to 4 ft 6 inches, now you just add up the feet to get the lenght of the table, 9ft+4ft+4ft+6 inches which is 17 feet and 6 inches
Do you understand?
i go it, word problems are my weakness in math. thank you very much my friend.
