b2-4ac will tell
\[b ^{2}-4ac\] This number is known as the discriminant. A quadratic equation with a non-negative discriminant will have at least one unique solution. If the discriminant is greater than zero, two unique solutions exist. If it equals zero, one unique solution exists.
