hint - it's not carbohydrates. Eating carbs raises blood glucose levels, followed by a decrease in blood sugar (after insulin is secreted and 'grabs' some of the carbs). The decline in blood sugar (aka serum glucose) often increases appetite. So it's said that carbs are initially satiating, but not over the long haul.
