y=x+2 2x+y=11

hero (hero):

Hint: To perform the least amount of steps, substitute x+2 in place of y into the second equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be 2x+x+2=11?? @Hero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@moser90 ???? you ignoring me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no just letting you get an ideal on how to do them some of them are better at explaining these then me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay did you do some of them on the packet??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

some of them but then my computer messed up and i lost them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

omgggg!!:((((

OpenStudy (anonymous):

need help @grrB34R

hero (hero):

You had the right set up @broderick365, now solve for x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, what hero said. lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would we go about doing that @Hero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

combine like terms

hero (hero):

You're telling me that if given 2x+x+2=11, you cannot solve for x from there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is 2x + x and if you want to combine 2 and 11 (which are on different sides of the equals sign) what do you do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be 3x +2+11??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

close. 3x + 2 = 11 3x = 11-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cmon two more steps and you are home free!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x=9 x=3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you got it. good job

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so whats y=??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can take either equation [the first will be easier] and substitute x back in. y = x+2 y = 3 +2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any other example you need help with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yess alot @grrB34R

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pic a few different kinds and i will help you
