sorry i didn't finish the question.......you can improve your odds of winning by buying two tickets . what is the probability that one or the other of your tickets will win something?

Yes, buying a second will improve your odds. The chance of winning will double in this case, because you are not repeating the same action, you are choosing again from a smaller population.
