Can someone give me real-world examples of someone who has used a slide rule for calculations, such as a teacher maybe? Even an engineer? And how/what they use it for?

Are you talking about this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slide_rule

Actually can you just proofread this? It's something I came up with as an answer... While researching, I also discovered that the use of slide rules actually started to decline in the 1950s due to the advancement of computers and other devices. But before electronic hand held calculators, the slide rule was widely used in the fields of engineering, science and commerce for rapidly performing calculations involving multiplication and division which have to be accurate to not more than three or four decimal places.
