Shondrella is a real estate agent who sells plots of land. The amount she charges for a plot of land is proportional to area of the plot. An interested buyer is deciding between two plots. Both have the same width; but, one is 20 yards longer than the width, and the other is 50 yards longer than the width. The smaller plot costs $3,200, and the larger plot costs $4,800. Which of the following are the dimensions of the two plots of land? smaller plot: 60 × 40; larger plot: 90 × 40 smaller plot: 20 × 40; larger plot: 50 × 40 smaller plot: 52 × 32; larger plot: 82 × 32 smaller

The lastt one is smaller plot: 20 × 32; larger plot: 50 × 32

Has to be either the first or third because of the "20 yard longer" and "50 yards longer" part of the problem.

ok

The quotient of her prices (3200 and 4800) is 1.5. The quotient of the area of the first one (60x40 and 90x40) is 1.5. The quotient of the area of the third one (52x32 and 82x32) is 1.57777. The first one matches her selling proportion making it the answer :)

ok thanks

No problem. I can show the math if you'd like to see it.

no it's ok

Alright. Have a good one!
