How do you factor this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x ^{2}-xy-30y ^{2}\]

OpenStudy (mathmate):

try (x-6y)(x+5y)

OpenStudy (mathmate):

here's how: x2-6xy +5xy-30y2 =x(x-6y) + 5y(x-6y) =(x+5y)(x-6y)

OpenStudy (waleed_imtiaz):

x^2-6xy+5xy-30y^2=0 Take x as common form the first two terns and take 5y as common from the last two terms....... x(X-6y)+5y(x-6y)=0 So (x-6y)=0 and (x+5y)=0
