For the three numbers a, j, and k, (a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the mean equals the median, then for three numbers a, j, k, j = the mean and the median

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i got that so far and k is 3j

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so a = 1/3 j

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not right huh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i think then the answer would've been 1/3 but that's not an answer choice right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think I'm right, not positive, but pretty sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so which answer choice is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can rule out the negative numbers :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think if you plug the other answers into the definition of mean, they will not be correct. The problem has a problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i tried plugging in numbers (a=-3, j=3, and k=9) and then it worked out to be -1 but idk if that's right.
