A boy is 6 ft. tall. The distance from the boy to a mirror is 8 ft. From the mirror to the house is 16 ft. How high is the top of the house? x = ?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

im pretty sure you have a figure

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

you need to show it to us so we can help you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, the problem doesnt give an angle or picture, it only has the pictures from the examples

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i thought i need one too thats why im all confused lolz

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

well you need to tell us where the boy, mirror and house are

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay here's an equation that I came up with, its not a figure, but its what i got im just not sure how to solve it. Boy = 6ft/mirror = 8ft = house = 16/house top = ? 6/8 = 16/x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk whether to multiply or divide or if that equation is even right :/

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

this is seriously impossible to solve without a figure...is there nothing in the "examples" about a boy, mirror and a house?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

that's all?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah thats all they've given me. There may be an error, it's happened before...

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

ahh picture number 2 is similar...

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

|dw:1344048497323:dw| so in triangle form |dw:1344048563829:dw| you're looking for x
