B.The graph is not a function because it is undefined at x = 0. C.The graph is not a function because it fails the vertical line test at x = 0. D.The graph is not a function because it fails the horizontal line test at y = 0.

Remember what constitutes something not being a function. Is there any point where you can put a vertical line through it and get more than one solution?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

as x = 0 is undefined the curve fails the vertical line test... so its only a relationship...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have to disagree and say that this is indeed a function, with a domain restriction at x = 0. This is -1/x

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

but the domain restriction doesn't appear in the question... unless I've missed something

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Given the generality of the question and the level of course I would imagine this to be, I'm imagining that this could really go either way ;]
