Solve the following quadratic equation using the quadratic formula and then choose the correct solution set. 6x^2 - 7x + 2 = 0 {1/2, 3/2} ?

OpenStudy (kainui):

Don't waste your time solving it, just plug in 1/2 and 3/2 for x and if they both equal 0, then you know you're right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alrite.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6(1/2)^2 - 7(3/2) + 2 = 0 doesnt work. :/

OpenStudy (kainui):

\[x=(-b/2a) \pm \sqrt{b^2-(4ac)}\]

OpenStudy (kainui):

Hmm maybe you added something wrong? I'll work it out in a second to check.

OpenStudy (kainui):

So when you have -b did you plug in -(-7)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont think so:P

OpenStudy (kainui):

I got 19/12 and -5/12, but I'm not sure if that's right or not. The biggest problem with quadratic formula is just making those little mistakes, you know?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay:)
