Not until the file is attached, at least. If there is nothing typed and nothing attached, it won't say that you're typing.

Yeah, and I don't think there's much we can do about that. File upload boxes are notoriously annoying to work with as a general category.

Nah, drawings should be indicating you as typing as long as you're working on the drawing. I coded that bit awhile back.
