The movie house charges $5 per DVD rented. Use the graph below to determine the total cost if 7 DVDs are rented.

Take a look at the line...if you calculate the slope, you'll get this equation: y=5x+0 Where y = the total cost of x DVDs. If you plug in 7 for x, what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shane_b y=5X7+0, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=35

OpenStudy (shane_b):

Exactly right :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so thats all?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shane_b thats all i have to do???

OpenStudy (shane_b):

In this problem yes. You just needed to calculate the slope which is:\[\frac{Rise}{Run}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Shane_B , so itll be: 35/? idk..

OpenStudy (shane_b):

Yes....and when you look at where the line crosses the x=7 mark, you'll see it's also 35...which confirms the answer.
