2ab+4=d;a

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

Are we solving for a?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

Ok. So we have the equation.. 2ab+4=d We will first subtract the 4 on both sides.. 2ab+4=d -4 -4 --------- 2ab=d-4 Now that we have taken a small step in this process, we now have the new equation of.. 2ab=d-4 Now, this step is a little tricky to figure out. Most people tend to divide one number or variable at a time. But notice that you can not divide again and again in this. Thus, we shall divide by two; 2b. 2ab=d-4 2ab/2b=d-4/2b a=d-4/2b
