How do you remember the greater than or less than sign. And What exactly are inequalities?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the big end goes towards the big number the little end goes towards the little number

OpenStudy (amistre64):

3 __ 5 since 3 is littler than 5 3 < 5

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if there is not difference between the 2, then both ends of the sign are the same 10 = 10

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

the sign points to the smaller number 12 > 5 12 is greater than 5... the sign is like an arrow pointing at the smaller number

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

inequalities are used to describe a problem were there are lots of possible answers. e.g. select a number greater than 5 you could have 6, 10, 50, 200, 320... and many more so it could be written x > 5 which reads x is greater then 5.... so there are may possible answers.
