Suppose you build a fence in the shape of a square and there are 7 equally spaced fence posts on each side . Draw a picture that illustrates this problem. How many posts are there all together?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

first draw a square second, put a post in each corner third, we need to evenly fill in 5 new posts on each side to equal 7 per side lastly, count the number of posts

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if course im assuming the posts need to start and end in a corner

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you I think there would 28

OpenStudy (amistre64):

28 would be good if we leave the corners open otherwise there would be 24 if we use posts in the corners

OpenStudy (amistre64):

since the problem doesnt specify how to place the posts; 28 and 24 are equally valid in my opinion
