OpenStudy (anonymous):

y-8 y+7 =2/7 the first part is a fraction i dont get how they get the awnser of 14

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

\[\frac{y-8}{y+7} = \frac 27\] is that the question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

start by cross multiplying 7(y-8) = 2(y+7) distribute 7y - 56 = 2y + 14 subtract 2y from both sides 5y - 56 = 14 add 56 to both sides 5y = 70 divide both sides by 5 y = 14 does that help?
