Neither. They are not alive. They are little balls of NRA or DNA wrapped in protein. They need a living cell as there host. From there they can put there NRA or DNA in the cell.

viruses are the simplest of pathogens (that cause diseases) that can be found. they are made of proteins and DNA (in case of plant viruses) or RNA (in case of animal viruses). Due to their ability to crystallization some biologist do include viruses in living organisms. that's way it is not known that they are prokaryotes or eukaryotes
