Which pair of terms contain opposite coefficients? a. 7x and –7x b. –7 and –7 c. 7 and –7 d. 7x and 7x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be 7x and -7x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YES

OpenStudy (anonymous):

coefficients are the values that are with variables

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you. @xThatOneKidx , coefficients cannot have just the values?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep. coefficients go with variables. If they are alone, then they are just constants. Like 2+4x=y. So 2 would be a constant. The coefficient of 4x is just 4. And for y it's 1. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your teacher or on line system or whatever probably wants a) since the terms have opposite coefficients but constants are coefficients too, so i would say c) is correct as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

True dat.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i see. but ill go with a).
