How do you find area between the curve in this problem ? y=x^2 , y= 1/x , y = 4 (in the first quadrant)

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

have you tried graphing it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, is there any way to do this without drawing a graph ? I tried finding the point of intersection of x^2=1/x but I dont know how to

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

well yeah...i guess...if you have enough experience and can visualize it mentally....yeah..that's possible

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would you do that ?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

honestly...you really should graph it

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

but if you know which one is the upper graph and which one is the lower graph then just use \[\int_{y=a}^{y = b} [f(y) - g(y) ] dy\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright, thanks

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

welcome ^_^
