Explanation:

Basically, we are in the process of allowing our site to scale well. We used to run on just one computer ("server"), so things were much simpler but also tended to get slow and cluttered up. Now we are attempting to make the site run on *multiple* servers. This means that we can add more servers as we need and ideally things should not be as slow. However, we now have to account for the fact that our code could be running in multiple places at once, so there are a lot of bugs related to that. We are working hard to squash them, and while we do so, things have been a little hairy. The end result, though, will ideally be a much snappier version of the site.

The short of it:

We started making some drastic changes this past Sunday night. We've been watching it in action and seeing where our problems are and fixing them as we go. We're hoping things will iron out by this weekend. We are sorry for the crippled experience, but just know we're actively working hard to patch things up, and, in the long run, things will be much, much better.

Maybe that wasn't so short :P. Hope I answered some of yr questions, though.
