A kindergarten school has square mats in two colors, red and blue. The ratio of the perimeter of the red mat to the perimeter of the blue mat is 1 : 2. The area of the blue mat is 100 square feet. What is the area of the red mat?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

area is s^2 and perimeter is 4s red to blue perimeter 1:2 so if red side is equal to s then the red perimeter would be equal to 4s, and thus blue perimeter is equal to 8s which would mean blue side is equal to 2s now area of red would be s^2 and area of blue is (2s)^2 what is the ratio between these 2
