Which measurement is a possible side length for a triangle with two sides measuring 9 cm and 4 cm?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

actually the third side should be LESS than 9 + 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13 is not a choice the choices are 5 cm 6 cm 3 cm 4 cm

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

well i did say less than 13...not 13...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

\[a-b < c< a+b\] does that help?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

let a = 9 and b = 4 \[9 - 4 < c < 9 + 4\] so the third side is \[5<c<13\]
