How many different ways can you arrange seven people shoulder-to-shoulder in a line?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know what a factorial is?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

the answer is 7! = 7*6*5*4*3*2*1 its the counting principal...think of the possible choices for each person you put in line initially you must choose 1 out of 7 then you pick 1 from remaining 6 then 1 from 5 and so on ... well each of those possible choices will produce a completely different arrangement
