SAT Grammar Question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would say B because it seems to correct the wordiness of the phrase, but A still seems like a plausible answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B is the correct

I remember this style question! The SAT has a lot of idiomatic pairs that are necessary to remember on some of the questions. I'm sure you'v heard of them: They're like 'neither .. nor' 'both .. and' 'either .. or' and 'whether .. or'. There's a pair in here, too. It's 'because .. and'. The only option that has 'and' in it, and satisfies the rule are options C and E. Let's compare: c. frustrating because of its chaotic structure and it is delightful in its originality. e. frustrating because of its chaotic structure and delightful because of its originality. To you, which one has better flow? The best option here would be 'e' because it has better parallelism, 'frustrating BECAUSE of its structure and delightful BECAUSE of its originality'. On either sides of the modifying 'and', the phrase is balanced. Other options either don't make sense or don't follow the idiomatic pair rule .
