What will be the formula on how to solve the remaining days before the birthday of a person?

If Given are:

1.his/ her birthday
example:

birth day: 05

birth month: 07

birth year: 1996

2.current date
example:

current day: 05

current month: 01

current year: 2012

and this is needed to be satisfied

1.BIRTH MONTH > CURRENT MONTH

2. (BIRTH YEAR r 400) = 0 LEAP YEAR

N(BIRTH YEAR r 100) = 0 NOT LEAP YEAR

r = remainder

20 r 4 = 0
20 r 3 = 2

This has always bugged me, as the days in each month vary (just generally) and then there are also leap years.
To do this you have to take into account all of this.
I know how you can do it, but not as some mathematical formula
