Mathematics 10 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

The freshman class has 160 students. Each freshman must write 3 reports from a list of 10 novels that the teacher has assigned them to read. How many different combinations of novels can a freshman student choose to write reports on? could someone show me the steps?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

haha nice. the questions are getting harder

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

anyway...i dont think the 160 student matters...so just do a combo on 10C3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya i think thats why its hard for me to get those.. ;;;

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i need HELP! :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

er, what @Igbasallote said: 10C3

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

160 doesnt matter here right @apple_pi ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can't see how, but its probably there because its important, or maybe not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

120???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait.. is the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10 - 3!(10-3)!?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

yep

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

wait...the numerator is 10!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you do realise there is a button for it?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

im still thinking about that 160 =_= i know it's 10C3....but that 160 makes me doubt myself...

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

it says a class has 160 students...but the question is just about one student...so i really think it's just 10C3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could you type in the equation? i'm not sure if mjines right??

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

\[10C3 = \frac{10!}{3!(10-3)!}\]

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

i told you your equation was right except for 10 to be 10!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 120 again!

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

that's right
