Select the description of f(x) = -3 - x6. (1 points) A) An odd function with end behavior of the graph that increases to the right and to the left. B) An odd function with end behavior of the graph that decreases to the right and to the left. C) An even function with end behavior of the graph that increases to the right and to the left. D) An even function with end behavior of the graph that decreases to the right and to the left.

OpenStudy (eyust707):

Even functions have symmetry about the y axis Odd functions have rotational symmetry about the origin

OpenStudy (eyust707):

also with even functions \(f(x) = f(-x)\) that means we could put a -x in for x and it would not change out answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got B . is that right ?

OpenStudy (eyust707):

Well I believe the function to be even because \(x^6\) is the same as \((-x)^6\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yeah that would make sense!! its either C or D then :/ i think its D since the first number is a -

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dang . so C ? i graphed it on my calculator & it looks like the second one .

OpenStudy (eyust707):

Actually yess D is correct

OpenStudy (eyust707):

sorry

OpenStudy (eyust707):

I misread it

OpenStudy (eyust707):

but its D not because the first number has a - sign but because the "x^6" has a - sign in front of it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh okay. thats what i thought but the graphs confused me... haha :P

OpenStudy (eyust707):

sorry about that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats okay :)
