so the site is done in realtime, obviously. but we organize the realtime functions of the site by things called "comets." The comet that is responsible for notifications/messaging/onlineness seems to be dying for some reason...

No solution yet, but we're diggin' around.

In the meantime, you can fix it like so:

Diagnosis:
If you hover over your avatar and see your status change to 'is offline', then it probably means yr "comet" is dead.

Temporary solution:
You should just be able to refresh the page. We issue new comets on every page load.

hmm cool. maybe a dialysis might work as a permanent solution. anyway,thanks for the help
