Can someone check this for me please? Add/Subtract and simplify if possible:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[the result fraction from adding is (17Y-2)/(12Y ^{2}-48)\]

I can't figure out how you would have gotten 17y-2 in the top. The bottom I can see but the top is lost on me. Are you sure that would be the right form for the numerator?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(2(4Y+8) +3(3Y-6)\] this is the value at the numerator by simplifing we get 8Y+16+9Y-18 so its 17Y-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But if we reduce the top then we can simplify it and cancel, wouldn't we want to do that instead? \[2(4y+8) = 2(4)(y+2) + 3(3y-6) = 3(3)(y-2)\]

This way we can get rid of the y+2 and y-2 in the denominator. Is that wrong?
