Why was slavery wrong?
Really there is no way you can justify slavery unles your looking at it through an economical point of view.
Its wrong because youre taking people and you may or may not be paying them. Its demeaning.
im curious, whats your opinion?
Begin with the definition of slavery in the Bible, then slavery during Rome, Asia, and in the Americas, when it is more recognized and condemned. From there you can continue that slavery still exist today in the form of prostitution, so called legal contracts where individuals have to work for x amount of money. Slavery is/was wrong, no one can own another human being. No one race of people is above another, due to the color of their skin, heritage, religion, sex, or social class. Thats five for you right there. Good Luck
thanks :)
I say its wrong first because it was racist by using enslaved africans, also they had no freedom or rights
Greed. The African tribes sold captured tribesmen to the Portuguese for money.Nothing like selling your countrymen to be slaves, even if they are your enemy.
Slavery has been going on for so long, since the beginning of civilization, and as unethical as it seems people that still live in 3rd world countries tend to think differently because they are just trying to survive, it doesn't change the fact that its still wrong though.
what alternatives to slavery were there?
Serfdom was just as popular in some countries as slavery especially in the 18 & 19th centuries. Russia for example had little use for slaves as their people were reduced to serf's. In a lot of cases there was little difference between being a slave and being a serf
