Part 1: Explain, in complete sentences, which method you would use to solve the following system of equations. Part 2: Explain why you chose that method. Part 3: Provide the solution to the system. x–3y+4z=–9; 2x+y+3z=6; x–4y+3z=–9

hero (hero):

1. I'd choose matrices. 2. Because it's easier 3. Find a pencil and piece of paper

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not good with matrices. I just need the first step for elimination.

hero (hero):

It's much more difficult to do without matrices. Why would you want to put yourself through such torture?

hero (hero):

There are a couple of ways to do it with elimination. Neither of which I recommend.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I didn't learn matrices.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correctly learn them in any case.

hero (hero):

The problem is, even if someone wanted to explain, they would explain it to you and you might get lost in the steps. You might not even be able to understand the steps.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's the entire reason why I failed my way through Algebra 2 twice.

hero (hero):

You failed Algebra II twice? How did you manage that?

hero (hero):

If you failed something twice, you need to put more effort into self study.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First time I had a ridiculously horrendous teacher. He was fired. The second time my teacher couldn't work with my learning method so I went ignored.

hero (hero):

What learning method?

hero (hero):

Are you doing online school?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. I have a solid B.

hero (hero):

You have to learn matrices. It's the only way.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do you suggest I learn them?

hero (hero):

I'm not exactly sure how you would learn them actually. But you have to.

hero (hero):

I don't have the time or patience to do it. And there was a time when I didn't know and no one would help me. I ended up having to learn on my own.

hero (hero):

I even looked for videos on YouTube and their explanations only confused me more.

hero (hero):

But there was one thing that helped. It helped me. I don't know if it will help you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you Hero

hero (hero):

Do you at least know how to set up the matrix?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, but I'm finding out now.

hero (hero):

Basically you start with a 3 x 4 matrix

hero (hero):

Let me set it up for you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

hero (hero):

\[\left[ \begin{ matrix } 1 & 3 & 4 & -9 \\ 2 & 1 & 3 & 6 \\ 1 & -4 & 3 & -9 \end{ matrix } \right] \]

hero (hero):

I don't know why that's not working

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Basically just type in the numbers in the equations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 –3 4 –9 2 1 3 6 1 –4 3 –9 Like that?

hero (hero):

Yeah, but it has to be done like this: |dw:1344571467108:dw|
