Solve the inequality - 2s + 8 < 16 s < - 12 s > - 4 s < - 4 s > - 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok do you have any ideas on how to solve it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait, let me clarify one thing, is it -2s or just 2s?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2s

OpenStudy (anonymous):

- 2s + 8 < 16 now we want to isolate or make s to be by itself, that is the method of solving something. first we would bright the 8 to the right hand side, we do this by minusing eight on both sides -2s + 8-8 < 16-8 -2s < 8 now we just have to divide by -2 on both sides but whenever you times or divide by a negative number you have to remember to switch the signs the other way around. -2s/-2 < 8/-2 s > -4 so answer is B, tell me if you don't understand anything
