What are the inverse operations necessary to solve the equation 4s - 9 = 13?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

what are the operations you see here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1.add 4, then divide by 9 2. subtract 9, then multiply by 4 3. subtract 4, then multiply by 9 4. add 9, then divide by 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright. Maybe this will help you have to solve for s here. To do this, you have to cancel the numbers to isolate s. 9 is being subtracted. THerefore, what is the opposite of subtraction? Second. Once you do ^ to 9, you need to get rid of 4. 4 is being multiplied. WHat is the opposite or multiplication?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright. You would divide by 4. What about the other part?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add i believe

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok. That means you would divide by 4 and add 9. Also, you're gonna want to sharpen these skills since later on, these are crucial. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you

np :)
