In "To kill a Mocking Bird," what does the character scout symbolize? Answers are appreciated :)

Scout represents innocence; in the book, there are two opposing themes - innocence vs ignorance. While the people of Maycomb are mostly ignorant (knowing and choosing to react a certain way) and prejudiced, Scout represents innocence that can develop into understanding. You can see the viewpoints on certain characters in the book, like Boo Radley, who is actually a good man.
