this uses ratios in similar triangles

$$\frac{18}{12} = \frac{PQ}{16}$$


just evaluate for PQ

well, 

12 is to 16  :::as:: 12/12 is to 16/12
                               1        :     4/3

1*18 = 18 sooo   4/3 * 18 is a match

oh, well i was just comparing ratios.  There aint one set way to do this.  If campbells is more your method, give it a go :)
