list all the subsets of {1}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you have a set with n elements you will in general have 2^n subsets. For the set {1} you have 2^1 or 2 subsets. They are {1} (every set is a subset of itself) and the empty set {} (which is a subset of every set).

so zero & itself?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not "zero" quite because 0, {0}, and {} are all different mathematical objects. 0 is a number, {0} is the set containing zero, and {} is the empty set; the set containing precisely NO elements. So "the empty set and the set containing itself" would be the proper way to word that.
