HelpPlease!! ..A person consumes a high caloric meal. Instantly their body begins to break chemical bonds in the food and release ATP as energy. However, the person immediately goes to sleep and does not use much of the ATP. Explain what process is going to occur and why it will occur?
Well, when you are resting, in this case in bed sleeping, the parasympathicus becomes active. This is the part of the autonomic nervous system allocates the ATP to repair and rebuilding the body. In other words, the ATP is used in processes that benefit maintenance of the body. If you consume a high caloric meal there is going to be a lot of ATP left after this is done. This is used to polymerize glucose that is in your bloodstream into glycogen that can be stored in muscles for spare energy and also some ATP will be used to make fat from fatty acids, so the energy you consumed before going to bed can be used some other time.
Thanks so much :)
