. Hundreds of Spanish and Portuguese adventurers went to conquer native kingdoms in the New World. Some did it to bring Christianity to the New World, most did it for the gold. http://latinamericanhistory.about.com/od/theconquest/The_Conquest_of_the_Americas.htm they were also more advanced then the natives and brought diseases to america killing most of the Indians making it very easy for them.
