first find out the no. of carbon atoms in the hydrocarbon. e.g. meth, eth, prop,but,pent, etc....then add the suffix depending upon the bond type...eg for a single bond add ane, for double add ene and for triple add yne...(always use the longest carbon chain)..
for eg- CH3-CH=CH-CH2-CH3 IS NAMED AS 2-PENTENE (NOTE: 2 IS THE LOWEST POSITION OF THE DOUBLE BOND N ENE FOR THE DOUBLE BOND)..
