Verbal irony is someone saying something, but meaning something else, like, "I love you." While saying it in a hateful or spiteful manner. Situational irony is when the result of an action is different from what you want or expected to happen. Such as, you go to shoot someone, but you miss and the bullet bounces around before killing you.
