Comment on the four harpooners of the Pequod; politically, why were they significant?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The harpooners were Queequeg, Tashtego and Daggoo. Queequeg's dad was a king, Tashtego was an Indian from Gay Head on Martha's Vineyard, and Daggoo was a gigantic Negro who has served many years at sea. They are all useful because they one, already have experience at sea or two, want a life of adventure on it! They were important to capture the whales.
