Find the x- and y-intercepts for the equation. Please show all of your work. y = -2x – 6

OpenStudy (ghazi):

divide whole equation by 6 your x intercept would be 3 and y would be 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

huh sorry i'm dum

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the \(y\) intercept, replace \(x\) by 0 you get \[y=-2\times 0-6=-6\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the \(y\) intercept is where the line crosses the \(y\) axis at \((0,6)\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the \(x\) intercept replace \(y\) by 0 and get \[0=-2x-6\]solve for \(x\) in two steps \[2x=-6\] \[x=-3\] so the \(x\) intercept is \((-3,0)\)
