When citing after a quotation, where do I place the period and quotation mark?

OpenStudy (wach):

"William Shakespeare was born in the 16th century" (Author 55). ^ Quote goes in quotation marks, followed by parentheses that has the last name of the person you're quoting, and the page number (if it's in a book or source with pages) next to it. The period goes at the end.
