We can remove the modulus operator by squaring on both sides.. So eqn 1: (2x-3)^2 = 289 , solutions are x = -7,10 . eqn 2 : (5x+3)^2 = 144, solutions are x= -3,1.8 . So Equation #1 and Equation #2 have the same number of solutions.
