the way I do these x^2-3x-28? factor look at the last number. -28. first, the minus means you will have 2 numbers with opposite signs (a + and a -) Next, list the factors of 28 1,28 2,14 4,7 now look for a pair when you subtract them (make one + and the other -) you get -3 (the -3 from the -3x term)
