Write the equation of the line with a slope of -1/3 and passing through the point (6, -4).

OpenStudy (phi):

you know y= mx+b where m is the slope. you know the slope is -1/3, so you know y= (-1/3)*x +b you also know that (6,-4) is on the line. that means if we replace x with 6 and y with -4, the equation must be true: -4= (-1/3)*6+b can you solve for b?
